This old wooden house along in Barangay Giloctog (the first letter 'G' is pronounced as 'H') in Barili, Cebu with a well is built around the late 19th in a cacao hacienda. It used to stood tall in which a person riding a horse could pass underneath it but now it has sunken deep. Originally belonging to the Pacuri family (and probably Vergara) it was sold to Tomas Roco in the neighboring Barangay Malolos. Being the sturdiest house around the area, it serves as shelter from typhoons. During the Japanese occupation, the owners fled to the mountains and the house became a military quarter. The house lost two-third of its size during the onslaught of Typhoon Nitang leaving only the living room intact. It still stands today waiting to be restored to its former glory.
