Intro

Welcome readers (including those by accidental click) !!!  A lot of interesting things kept brewing in my mind from this and that and yet I tend to forget them even those memorable and inspiring ones or perhaps have a hard time recollecting and jutting those down. It can be really frustrating, sad isn't it? A clouded mind does not yield anything good.

Thankfully I have a small outdoor community fish tank made from a cut steel drum. It is so satisfying and calming to watch especially when the water is clear after a hard rain and the silts have settled at the bottom.  You can be amazed and fascinated at the interaction of the mini wildlife.

The clarity of water alludes to the clarity of the mind giving out a reflecting to those who gaze on it and the thoughts and ideas would come floating again back in my head.

About my community fish tank:

During my childhood days, we used to have a small family aquarium of gold fishes. It was very costly and tedious to maintain and long run was was lost. Fast forward into the future during college and after visiting parks and zoos. I was inspired again to have  an aquarium but this time came up with this self-sustaining community fish tank. Conveniently placed in the garden in with a little shade underneath a canopy of trees enough to get rain and ample sunlight. Thus low maintenance and cost efficient. Kaching! Aside from that it is also a natural way of reducing or eliminating mosquito infestation.

Flora (plants)

Blue waterlily - the blooms smell like a fabric conditioner
Elodea - this one died as it cannot exist at the floor of the tank, away from sunlight
Hydrilla - same as Elodea
Cabomba - same as Elodea
Water hyacinth - removed, this easily grows fast and can be troublesome
Water Lettuce - removed

Fauna (fauna)

Red Balloon - multiplies fast
Zebra -  they swim to and fro, stop and go
Molly- easy to breed
Tiger barb - nice to have but died out due to sudden change of chemistry in the tank
Guppy - very colorful tails but died out

Occasional visitor would include some garden snails, slug, frogs, and sparrows. Fruit bats would also love to drop lomboy aka Java Plum (Syzgium cumini) seeds into the tank kind of fascinating to know mother nature's way of propagation.

Closer view on the tank with the silhouettes of the red balloons swimming around the blooming water lily.

As you gaze into the tank looking at the micro aquatic vivarium seeing the fishes swim and flowers in bloom, your mind starts to be filled with thoughts...
